Cairns Premier Reef & Island Tours operate Ocean Free & Ocean Freedom – the two most personal Great Barrier Reef Tours departing daily from Cairns – the Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Owned and operated by Perry Jones and Taryn Agius – this company was borne from a desire to give travellers the best and most personal, customer-oriented reef experience possible while ensuring a high respect for safety and the environment. The company continues to be passionately operated, for over 28 years. The company is a High Standard Reef Operator having been stewards of their reef sites for over 28 years, active in the Eye on the Reef programme, active in the Coral Nurture Programme since 2019, plastic free for many years, and involved in the COT’s programme and control of drupellae on their reef sites and in 2022 committed to the purchase of trees for assisting in a regeneration project in the Daintree with more exciting plans to further reduce their carbon footprint.

Ocean Free: Deeply connect with nature on their classic sailing schooner, sailing you to an exclusive Great Barrier Reef site just 1 km off Green Island. Snorkel straight off the boat onto our exclusive reef site, where the “bommies” – coral outcrops come to just 1M under the surface for easy viewing when snorkelling. Snorkel or dive the reef in this highly protected green Marine Park zone and explore a tropical island all in one day. Enjoy a nutritious, smorgasbord lunch on board the vessel and then jump into the tender for a quick transfer across to Green Island. Relax or explore as you wish! After 4 and ½ hrs between water and island activities, experience authentic sailing (wind prevailing!) as you enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and cheese platter on the journey home – pure indulgence with only maximum of 25 guests!

Ocean Freedom – a fast, stylish and comfortable 20M motor CAT, visits two exclusive very different Great Barrier Reef sites also located in a highly protected Marine Park zone. Tour includes full smorgasbord lunch and morning and afternoon snacks and all snorkelling gear and tuition if required. Listen to our passionate and knowledgeable Marine biologists, Master Reef guides and Marine Interpreters during our complimentary, informative Glass Bottom Boat and Adventure drift Snorkel Tours. With 6hrs of unrushed reef time, you will truly be immersed in all that is reef, and still have time to relax and take in the beautiful surrounding environment. Be blown away by the abundance of sea life on our highly protected Marine Park sites – come and acquaint yourselves with all the resident reef “Hollywood” stars – they will be pleased to see you! On both tours you can dive with highly trained dive instructors. For first time divers they offer an extremely high ratio of instructor to diver 1:2 (most boats offer 1:4) and for cert divers a free guide ensures you get the most out of your dives! Their diving is conservative at 10-12M depth for relaxed diving and also a great depth to truly see all the colours of the reef and tropical fish life!

QLD has very high safety standards and all divers whether certified or Introductory will need to fill out a diving medical on board to ensure there are no contra-indications to safe diving. If diving is really important to you on the day, and you have any past or present medical issues or taking any medication please enquire so that their super helpful and knowledgeable staff can advise if any medical clearance may be required prior to your day.
