Jungle Tours

Description

The specialists in youth and adventure trips, Jungle Tours operates out of Cairns and runs day and extended tours to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree – where the rainforest meets the reef. Jungle Tours is locally owned and operated.

The World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest is home to the largest range of plants and animals on earth, with approximately 430 species of birds living amongst the trees including 13 species that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

Travelling in small groups, you’ll be kept informed and entertained throughout the tour by our knowledgeable guides. As your air-conditioned Jungle Bus winds its way north along one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Australia, sit back in your comfortable seats and enjoy the scenery outside your window.

Your first stop on the tour is to the world-class Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas. Cuddle a koala, hold a crocodile, feed a kangaroo and get up close and personal with the cassowary, the largest flightless bird in the world.

After a beautiful drive through the rainforests of the Daintree, including a trip on the Daintree River Ferry, you will enjoy a laidback tropical lunch in the depths of the rainforest. Once your belly is full, spend some time enjoying the sun, sea and sand on Cape Tribulation Beach, where the oldest rainforest in the world meets the Great Barrier Reef.

Activities for the afternoon include a leisurely rainforest walk. Your tour guide will point out and explain the different plants and trees that can be found in the area. Make sure you look out for wildlife – you may be lucky enough to come across a lace monitor, green tree snake or even a cassowary in the wild.

No trip to the Daintree is complete without a relaxing river cruise. Your experienced boat captain will expertly navigate around the islands and sandbars of the river, on the hunt for water birds and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Pay close attention to the banks of the river and to the gaps in the mangroves – even when they are out of the water, crocodiles can still be well-camouflaged!

For those with a little more time on their hands, extend your trip and enjoy an overnight stay at one of the many accommodation properties on offer in the area. You can select from a range of options including backpacker dorms and deluxe suites. Cape Tribulation offers plenty of options to party the night away, or some secluded beach locations if you’d prefer a quieter night in.

Extended trips also have the option of adding extra activities to their itinerary, including Jungle Surfing through the tops of the Rainforest, reef tours for an up-close view of the Great Barrier Reef, sea kayaking, bush-walking along some of the world’s most picturesque trails, mountain bike riding and horse-riding tours along the beach.
