Backpacking Gold Coast Brisbane01

Backpacking From The Gold Coast To Brisbane

What better way to start our journey than on the Gold Coast. We weren’t prepared for how busy it was, and it really was a backpacker’s paradise with cheap accommodation offers, cheap meals and drinks, and lots of places to party.

We decided to do surfing during our adventure, Bastien is actuality quite an experienced surfer, while I’m still a learner. Both of us agreed that two of the best surf spots we tried in Queensland were on the Gold Coast. Coolangatta and Burleigh Heads were amazing for surfing and we had an great time. However they might not be the easiest places for complete beginners.

A few days on the beaches there and we could understand why they were considered some of the best in Australia.

Our next stop was a night out at the Down Under Bar in central Brisbane! It was such a fun place and you’ll be sure to have a great night and meet a lot of other backpackers, with lots of ideas for planning trips further north.

Brisbane was a pretty city with so much to offer in the way of natural attractions such as Mount Coot-tha Lookout, sunset at Kangaroo Point, and a relaxed ferry ride along the Brisbane River.

We also loved the walk along South Bank, as well as the gardens, beach and markets. The Brisbane City YHA was our home for our stay and was really clean with a cool atmosphere and walking distance to the city centre where all the action is. The best thing about Brisbane City YHA has to be the roof top pool where you can see amazing views of the city and river.

Our next blog takes us to Noosa and the Sunshine Coast, and we have heaps to share about our time there.
